Sarah Chadwick
Sarah Chadwick began writing The Sweetness of Venus: A History of the Clitoris after a family move from the United Kingdom to Chicago in 2016.
I had always wanted to write, but once I had the idea for The Sweetness of Venus, it was as if my career came together–my love of reading, teaching, research, studying, libraries, high and low culture, and writing all seemed to coalesce with this project.
Sarah studied at Durham University Kings college, London and Warwick University. She has four children and travels between Cornwall and Chicago.
She also runs the gritty, feminist @its.personalgirls Instagram page and cam be found on Facebook.

" I just finished listening to the audio version of The Sweetness of Venus by Sarah Chadwick. A friend recommended this book. This would not be a book I would have found on my own but I must say I throughly enjoyed. I initially got the audio version of the book and the narrator did an outstanding job reading. Chadwick's sense of humor throughout the book was so great I found myself laughing out loud."

" this is a terrific book that delves into the history of our formal, which is to say male, understanding of women's sexuality and particularly, the role of the clitoris... this is the story one, of what the clitoris actually is and does (it is the organ of sexual pleasure for women); and two, how it has been viewed, mostly by men, down through the history of western thought (when they have seen it at all)... every woman who is interested in understanding her own body and her sexuality should read this book and every man who has any interest in women also should read it... it is beautifully written and full of wit and humor... it is well researched and the science is rigorous, but the book is still entirely readable and entertaining... this is feminism with a smile and a dash of forgiveness for men for being such idiots down through the ages and an exhortation to us to do better and be better in every way... i can't recommend this book strongly enough... " Sarah Chadwick proved the perfect person to write this book. On every page, her sincerity, love, openness, and brilliancy shine through and bring the book together as informational and engaging. She tells a story that needs to be heard and opens the conversation of female sexuality up for thought and discussion no matter who you are. This isn't a book just for the progressive feminist, this is a book for anyone! It doesn't just argue for female orgasms it argues for better education and a better understanding of why the world views sex as it does. Read it, gift it, read it again, and talk about it with everyone you know!"
