About Armin Lear Press Publishing Company

Dedicated Excellence in Publishing

At Armin Lear Press publishing company, our goal is to publish books connecting people with ideas that make our lives richer, more fulfilling, and happier.

Our History

More Than Just Books

Founded by a successful author, Armin Lear focuses on partnership with authors. Our editorial and design standards are high, and we strive to give personal attention to each author and agent we partner with.

Genres of interest span the entire range of non-fiction.

We have a special interest in books containing practical advice on improving the quality of life. This includes books about business, career development, current events, health, literacy, lifestyle, and more.

Biographies, history, memoirs–important, true narratives–also populate our list.

We have also ventured into the arena of controversial discussions about the quality of democracy in the United States and in the countries of our allies and will be issuing more titles with provocative content in the coming weeks and months.

We are excited to have launched fiction as well, and find ourselves drawn to intrigue, in both contemporary thrillers and fantasy. Regardless of genre, though, novels with characters who are alive on the page and plots that wake us up invariably attract our attention.

Another area of interest is human sexuality. We are publishing titles with substantial value in intimate relationships.

And as of Spring 2024, we began producing and distributing audiobooks, with some featuring SAG-AFTRA talent thanks to special arrangements with the union.

Armin Lear published my book and I am thrilled with our partnership! I cannot tell you what a relief it was to have them in my corner helping me through every step of the process.”

What We Do

Our Community

People in publishing! Readers, authors, agents, colleagues, marketing professionals–anyone who cares about the quality and availability of books.

An important part of our community is also organizations such as The Authors Guild, Independent Book Publishers Association, and (yes) The Explorers Club, to which some of our authors belong.

A World-Wide Community

Our community is international and multi-lingual. We have had a strong presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair for four years in a row and will be back again in 2025 in the International Hall. We also represent our authors at the London Book Fair and work closely with the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) to promote our work through and with them.

World-Class Publishing Company

Join Our Journey

We now have a robust five-year record of publishing! We have a traditional publishing model, giving a small advance when it makes sense, but most of our authors don’t want that.

Instead, most of our authors choose a profit-sharing model of publishing with us to increase their royalty percentage and control over rights. Even if that is the preferred route to success, Armin Lear will only publish works that have met our standards for quality and gone through our editorial process, which is as demanding as any in the business.

Assisting Authors

Not unlike very large publishers, we want to see well-written manuscripts that stand the test of time. At the same time, we realize that some subject matter experts have tremendous ideas, but a limited ability to express them. In a case like that, we will help an author find the right editor or co-author to prepare the manuscript for publication.

Emerging Authors Welcome

We welcome authors who are on their way up, with strong endorsements from colleagues and the foundation of a good platform. This sets us apart from many other publishers who require that you come to them already “famous.” We respect your efforts if you’re on your way to millions of social media followers, but don’t have them quite yet.

How Armin Lear Works: An Overview

We put publishing models into four categories: traditional, hybrid (fees for services), partnership, and self-publishing.

Armin Lear does a limited number of traditional deals, but our focus is on partnerships, that is, we match the Author’s investment 1-1. We also share net revenue equally.

Here is the process:

  • The Author completes the manuscript and submits it for initial review.
  • Author and Publisher meet virtually to discuss the project, looking at both the editorial and the marketing merits of it. If we share a vision, then we execute a contract that reflects the agreed-upon budget.
  • The manuscript undergoes as many rounds of editing as necessary, including developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, until it meets commercial publishing standards. (The Author has final approval.)
  • While that is occurring, we draft cover designs and decide on key graphic elements and the font that will be used in the interior of the book. (The Author has final approval.)
  • We secure ISBNs for print and eBook and Author and Publisher collaborate on metadata preparation and any other production elements, such as pricing single copies and bulk orders.
  • Publisher and Author agree on promotion tactics and allocation of resources to secure book reviews, media coverage, and so on.
  • Following Author approval of print and eBook, the files go through a final technical review and the book is ready for pre-order. It’s at this stage that the pages for the book appear on vendor sites, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Walmart, Books-a-Million, and others.
  • Marketing continues through agreed promotional activities, media outreach, reader engagement, events, and other initiatives outlined in the publishing plan.

To be perfectly clear, our mutual investment covers

  • Professional editorial work, including as many editing rounds as the manuscript requires
  • Custom cover design
  • Interior formatting and typesetting
  • ISBNs and standard publishing metadata
  • Ebook and print production
  • Worldwide distribution setup
  • Agreed-upon basic marketing services
  • Project management through publication

From start to finish, the process can take as little as three months, but the timetable may be extended by mutual agreement due to important promotion activities, such as the London Book Fair or Frankfurt Book Fair.
