" I am a young widow. This book is brilliant. It touches on so many different aspects and is the book to read for any young widow / widower. I am passing it on to my therapist so that he could pass it on to others who have recently lost their young spouse. Life is not easy but from books like this at least you feel that you are not alone that others have walked in your shoes before. I am a slow reader but I read this book only within a few days. If you or someone you know is a YOUNG widow please buy this book for them (or for yourself). Our situation is different to most people's who are widowed so much later in life. We need to know that we are not alone and that it is normal to feel the way do. This book is spot on! "

"As a 24 year old cancer widow I found this to be one of the few books that was really helpful. It is broken up into very short pages which makes is readable. Early in grief maintaining focus is impossible so having 2-5 page chapters made it a readable book. It addressed a multitude of different issues and different situations (ie sudden death, prolonged illness, have kids, don't have kids etc) which makes it a good go to no matter why a person is widowed. I've bought a spare copy to keep in the house in case someone else ever joins this horrible club and I need to send it as a gift. It has a lot of quotes by fellow wids which makes you feel not alone. The language is always friendly and it avoids preaching at you."

" This is still one of the best books on grief written even despite my concerns - and please know that up front. But I could not believe the wording in the book and how many times SHE is used (what about us guys who have lost a wife) and she says it is for widowers but the language throughout is for women, and says nothing about the unique ways that men grieve. I think if you are a woman - buy this book it is a great book but if you are a guy you will be very disappointed as I was. It identifies with women. Did it talk about any of the things men experience after the death of their spouse - usually their ONLY FRIEND IN THE WORLD? did it deal with betrayal?? Did it deal with MALE SEXUALITY? The entire book is from the FEMALE PERSPECTIVE ONLY. Not a bit for men. It was a waste for me. I wasn't helped by it at all"
